 Having always loved the outdoors, plein air painting came naturally to me. My outdoor paintings serve as references to larger, more abstract, oil paintings on canvas in the studio. The coastal landscape has inspired me to become more expressive, pushing color and my imagination to the limits. My work has evolved into two distinct styles, one in which I playfully capture the subject with line, shape and color hues. These "quirky" paintings evoke a sense of fun for the viewer. Whereas, my more recent landscapes have taken on a greater emotional impact, carrying the viewer to depths beyond the surface.
